April Prayer Points

Thank you for your prayers

In this month’s newsletter, we share about one Messiah revealed in two figures: Messiah, the Son of David, as the Conquering King, and Messiah, the Son of Joseph, as the Suffering Servant. Messiah, the Son of David, is the King who has been expected throughout Israel’s history, but even in Jewish writings predating Jesus, there is a character from Galilee who dies outside the gates of Jerusalem as an act of atonement for the sins of Israel.

The following quote is from the Babylonian Talmud, Sukkah 52a:

The Messiah ben Joseph will be slain, and when they [Israel] see that he is dead, they will lament over him, as it is written, “They shall look upon Me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him as one mourns for an only son (Zechariah 12:10).”

Please join us in praying for:

  • our Jewish people to look upon Jesus this Passover season and see the Messiah, Son of Joseph, who takes away the sins of the world;

  • Jewish people who have been hostile towards the gospel but of late have been exploring and are now possibly open to accepting Jesus as their Messiah;

  • Jewish followers of Jesus within the Jewish communities, who have not been able to make their faith in Jesus known. Pray that they will find the courage to reach out to us and their Christian friends or colleagues;

  • unity in the body of Messiah in South Africa. Before we can stand united with Israel and the Jewish people, there must be unity in the body; and

  • opportunities for Christians to connect and stand in unity with the Jewish community in South Africa and, in doing so, show them the relationship that we have with the Father.
